American Literature Students Visit LMC

Mrs. During's HS American Literature class visited their library today to learn about researching authors. Mr. Dutcher demonstrated the Twayne's Author Series online database and presented several print literature resources that they could use for their research into American authors.

Mrs. Stark's Students Study 'Z for Zachariah'

After reading 'Z for Zachariah', Mrs. Stark's HS ELA students visited the library to find periodical articles using library databases related to weapons of mass destruction. Her students later took their research to write about how this novel has affected their oppinions about coutries' posession of, research into, or use of these weapons.

Poet Herm Card Visits the Middle School

Today, Dryden Middle School welcomed poet and middle school teacher Herm Card. As the MS Visiting poet, he worked with several MS ELA classes and later gave a poetry reading in the library media center.
Middle school students also celebrated 'Poem in Your Pocket Day'. MS students and teachers read their favorite original or published poems to an audience of MS students in the cafeteria.
Students, teachers, and administrators all had fun experiencing poetry in the middle school today.
This event was part of our Poetry at Dryden MS/HS 2006 program with grant funding from the Dryden Youth Opportunity Fund, the Dryden Teachers Center, and Lori Harris, friend of Mrs. Cunningham.

MS Astronomy Students Not 'Lost in Space'

Ms. Nassar's MS science students began their unit on astronomy today. To help keep them on track, Mr. Dutcher sent them a book truck full of astronomy books and some outer space related science fiction books.

MS Students Celebrate Foreign Language

Today in the library media center, middle school students in foreign language classes learned about the culture of Mexico. Pictures, music, and food was enjoyed by all.
